Process for archiving photos
- Upload to Google Photos full resolution (no caption or face tags)
- Include in ZIP archive in Google Drive
- Add to Family Tree software if the photo can be linked to an individual or event (see guidelines below)
- Generally no larger than 1600x1600 and saved in .jpg format with ~65% compression
- Add to online photo album with captions in description field and face tagging
When adding photos to the tree
- A new source should be created for each album. The repository for the album will be the person who currently has the album.
- All photos must be added to the appropriate album source record
- Any text should be captured in the text field of the source citation
- Where known, the date of the photo should be captured in the 'Date of entry in original source' field
- Link the individual record for any people who are in the photo (The photo will then appear in the individual's 'album' tab and their names will also appear beside the photo when viewing the photo gallery.)
For the album to appear in the 'galleries' menu, a new gallery must be created via the Admin page.
Piwigo face tags
If upgrading Piwigo, the face tag button might be removed from the theme. Need to edit picture_nav_buttons.tpl in the bootstrap theme's template folder, and add the code below:
